Greetings! This is me and my wife's third trip from Okinawa (I'm a Marine stationed there) to Michigan and to go snowmobiling. In 2006 we went to Westersmelt (sp?) a few days before Christmas because that was the only area in Michgan that had some snow. We had rented a two seater and only spent about 7 hours that day around on the close area trails. Not the most fun but it was a sudden decision to go just for the hell of it but the trip up there from Grand Blanc was part of the fun! In 2007 we planned for it alittle bit better. I think we went the week after Christmas and went to Hancock. We rented two brand new Arctic car f6's for one day. But it was so much fun we ended up renting for 3 days total! It was a blast and we traveled almost all the trails in the Western U.P. In 2008 I was deployed to Iraq (again) and this year we are all set to have our third trip. Everything is reserved including 2 crossfire 600s and the hotel. We are renting with the same dealer (M&M powersports) because last time we were very pleased with the service there and the prices cant be beat. Plus he always has new sleds to choose from! So everything is set up and we will be there Sunday Jan 3rd until Jan 7th. We have the sleds reserved for Jan 4th, 5th, and 6th. So if you are in the area look us up! My wife is Japanese and she is also in love with snowmobiling and the beauty in Michigan! See everyone on the trails!!

Kinda depends what YOU like. Some like wide, flat railroad grades for the speed, some like twisting winding hills, and some just like to get out in some Incredible scenery-Overlooks of Lake Superior,Taquamenon Falls-things like that.Ask where your renting the sleds which way to the areas your interested in riding cause you've got all of that within a days ride where ever you go in the U.P.Some areas are better than others in different Ways.Again, ask the rental guys...they live there and want to keep you happy and keep you coming back!!  AND,keep an eye on these Forums cause they're full of great information.

Hey Ryan!!  Thanks for serving our country!!  Your service and sacrifices are greatly appreciated.  From Houghton go south and west.  Lake of the Clouds,  Lake Gogebic or stop in to see Eugean Vitone' at Bingos motel and bar in Wakefield, hes a heck of a guy, and its a nice day trip!  To the east you can run to the Buckhorn Resort on trail 7 near Wetmore. They have great food.  Or go see Harry Dunn at the Trails End bar in Christmas.  Good food and good times.  In the evening you can take a short ride north to Copper City (not harbor) and have a few drinks with Matt at the Drift Inn Bar.  The important thing is to have a blast!!!!   HOpe to run into you while you are up riding.

Mike
