I'm planning a trip to the western UP this year and have a few question that I need help with.  I would like to start at Iron Mountain ride to Houghton passing Mt. Arvon.  Stay in Houghton for the night, ride the Keweenaw and then ride to Bergland for the night.  The next day ride to Lake of the Clouds than back to Iron Mountain.  The problem is I have not been able to find the mileage between the towns I want to visit.  I will be traveling with my wife and dad, so I would like to stay around 150  miles a day. If any one could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I two am thinking about a Keweenaw trip.  We have 3 extremly well versed riders, my wife and son and I.  We usually ride around 200 to 225 miles per day.  None of us are whiners and our machines are always maintained.  I have always wanted to run to copper harbor, I did this trip in the late 80's with an Exciter.  I just remember alot of snow and a long ride up their.  we are from Iniana, their was about 6 of us, we all rode in an old motorhome, the only heat was in front, so the driver and passenger was extrememly hot and everyone else was cold.  I do not even know where we arrived at and took off from.  I was around 18 years old then.  I just know we had a blast.   Allan

Back when,I rode my Yamaha Phazer with a group of 5 of us from Trout Lake to Copper Harbor and back in 7 days-took the upper route up to C.H. and came back down the west side{Iron mountain,Porky Pine mountains.Lake of the Clouds}and the lower route.Something around 1200 miles and a Really good time despite riding in some light rain and I remember some dirt going into Baraga.Everybody should take a trip like that at least once-we did it twice...so far!!   And NO,we didn't use a GPS-that would take all the fun out of it.

We went from Munising up thru the Keewanaw pen. thru Houghton and hancock, stayed up at eagle harbor, was a blast (about 3 years ago) only problem we had was a lack of snow, and the trails up there have alot of rocks that churn up easily, that sucked, ruined my hyfax, chipped a couple of idler wheels, other than that it was fun.

Yup it was a good trip, previous days we rode from: start: Mancelona to Munising, a total of1,300 miles in 4 days, we did stop to see alot of scenery, otherwise we would of pounded out a ton more miles.  funny thing is, were losing alot of snomobile buddys cause of the miles we put on, alot of them just wanna go 100 miles and turn around.  My dad is pushing 70, and he still pounds the high milage, at a good fast pace.
