No specific rules on them. They are not legally snowmobiles, so their use on snowmobile trails, in the winter, with a trail pass, is not really legal.
Some enforcement officers indicated they would let it pass, but I suspect that's a one or two person "maybe" rather than a general rule.
Use of one on the ORV Trails is fine. Not much fun though. Most of the track kits I've seen would make them technically illegal on ORV Trails as they would be in excess of 50" wide. Never seen that enforced, but never know...
Biggest issue with being so wide on an ORV Trail is snagging stumps/trees/berms on the side of the trail.
Using 'em on Routes or other legal roads would be just fine.

| You should have zero issues then, treat it like a wheeled ATV (ORV sticker, etc.). No special/different rules apply.

| So what your saying, an orv atv or bike can ride a freshly groomed trail, if its listed as a orv trail in the winter? we we're traveling on the trail (orv) by higgins lk, freshly groomed, and it had 2 or 3 big ruts from bikes, this is legal?

ORV Routes, that are shared Snowmobile Trails, are open/legal to ORVs year 'round.
Not sure which snowmobile trail you were on that would be ORV near Higgins. South of Houghton Lake is trail 6. It's shared ORV Route from M18 east to St Helen.
Near Higgins Lake is the West Higgins ORV Trail, but it's not shared snowmobile trail.

East of Higgins Lake, east of I75 is trail 69; it's also shared ORV from Geels to Roscommon.

Do you recall which section/trail you were on?

| No they are not. Groomed trails only where marked Mixed Traffic are open to ATV.s you can not take an ATV down trail 2 when gromming is going on.

Not sure which post you were responding too.
There are LUOD (Land Use Orders of the Director) that apply to Felch Grade ORV Route (UP west of Escanaba, shared with Snowmobile Trail 2) and to the Devils Lake ORV Route (Alpena, shared snowmobile trail 468). The LUOD prohibits wheeled motorized vehicles when there is more than 4" of snow.
Otherwise, legally (not that's it's smart, recommended or suggested), wheeled vehicles are indeed legal on designated snowmobile trails if that trail is also a designated ORV Route.

| Yes It was the trail you have there, just south of fletcher rd. Remind me not to go that way again, cause those bikes and quads tore that nice, fresh groomed trail to a rutted out motocross track, real hard to control sled, the bikes had a hard time to, you can see they we're all over the trail, I bet they came across some on coming traffic, kinda unsafe I would say.
