|
Please Please slow down on the trails and use the hand signals for the riders safety behind you! Too many people not using them. Don't be in such a big hurry all the time. Enjoy the trails!!
Too many people not obeying the stay on the trail signs.
I think we need a $500-$1000 fine for cutting corners or through fields. Respect the property owners! The DNR/Police depts could make some extra $$ if they sat by some of the areas where people cut corners and through fields clearly marked NO SNOWMOBILES.
What does everyone think? Make all the people breaking the rules of the trail pay severely!!!

| I dont think the hand signals are not that important because if you are traveling with 3 sleds and you singnal 3 and there is 5 more sleds behide you that you dont know about in a different group . And i would rather have a snowmoblier comming at me with too hands on the handle bars . I do think that there should be a ticket for not staying on the trail !!!

| I'm with enis on the hand signals-I'd rather they keep both hands on the handlebars.Everybody knows Crashin Sucks and ya can't hold it on the trail if yer goin too fast.Let the Fools fly off into da woods..Safer trails for the rest of us.Not if but When they put a speed limit on all the trails,I quit.I'll sell it and so will just about everybody I know.Certain areas need it{on streets in town,on bridges etc.}But not out on the trails.Ride Responsible!! Respect "Marked and Posted" private property!! If ya need an extra one for the road-ya already had One too many.

| i am a fool for the speed. however ride for the conditions. i agree let that fool fly off, me. we MUST use hand signals for all riders in your group no matter how many. if another group is clos enough to your group to look like they are with you, move over at the next stop sign and allow them to pass safly. you can not ride fast with one hand. with using hand signals you have to slow down enough before you approach the other ride to use the signal because the signal hand is your breaking hand.

| I must agree with auburntechnology.com, when riding round corners and tight areas it is good to know that there is nobody left in the group, and continue riding. I do slow down to signal while riding with one hand.

If you going to fast to take one hand off the handlebar when passing other sledders then clearly you are going to fast on some trails!!! There are families on the trails. People like this make it very dangerous to ride. It's ok to go fast when your in a good area to do it, but when I come up on people on corners and they are so surprised they almost go off the trail then it's too fast!
Only need one hand signal for some riders!!!

The hand signals work for me. Not just with snowmobileing but when I ride the same trails on my bike in the summer. If you can't control you sled with one hand for the couple of seconds it takes to hold up a couple of fingers then you need to stay off the trails until you build up your riding skills until you can do so. I always slow down when I am approaching other riders. It is not only curteous but much safer.
As for the speed limits, I agree that there are areas that should have them. Especially in towns because the ability to ride through town is a privilage we should not take lightly. On the trails my biggest worry is coming around a blind corner and going head on with another sled. Do your best to stay to the right, and keep your speed in check so that you will always be able to avoid accidents. On more open trails where visibility is good I say speed all you want.
Private property is just that, PRIVATE. Please respect the owners of their property and they will let us continue to use the designated trails. They don't ride your sled without permission. We should not ride thier land without permission.
Save the wobbly pops for after the ride. nothing wrong with a few cold ones while bench racing. But if riding a snowmobile is not enough fun for you sober, then there are more issues at hand. The choices you make affect everyone on the trail, not just you.

There is a SPEED LIMITE on the trails in Michigan. It is 55mph where not posted.
That is on the road, on the water, and on the trail
P.S. If I see someone drinking and on the same trail with me I will turn you in, in a hart beat!

| There is no posted speed limit, its up to the DNR's discretion, larry ur right, no speed limit, unless you are near a road, or STILL, its up to the dnr discretion, also I drink a beer accasionally, not to get under, but to enjoy, so if Im called upon by the police, I guarantee if I see a arctic cat z1 turbo Beating any snomobile on the trails, I WILL TURN HIM IN, GUARANTEED!!

| A beer or two with lunch is one thing, no problem. I sat a watched two couples on rentals down about an 8 drink lunch and hope back on the trail at Larry's last season. That bothered me. Now if people would ride 10 miles an hour slower for each drink instead of 10MPH faster with each drink we would not have any problem.

| For the most part people slow down,BUT there is always the jerk that just doesn't get it. Remember there are families with kids on some of those sleds out there. Theres a place to go fast and it's not on blind hills and curves.

| Quick Tip that could save ya some Pain--Came around a corner last week just about dark and saw animal tracks on da trail.Slowed down to look around and almost got taken off my sled by a deer jumpin across the trail.If I hadn't slowed down-POW!! moral of story...Snows gettin deep and the deer like using snomobile trails when it gets dark-ya see tracks...Think about it!

I have been trail riding for years. I also love the power and speed of these machines. What worries me is many inexperienced riders get behind the throttle and ride over their head. I have been one to squeeze it on a long straight away, but only if conditions permit. I agree, slow down, know the trail, use hand signals. Michigan forests are breathtaking in the winter, take in the scenery.

| Use the hand signals, and watch the speed. No reason to go faster than 50 or 55 mph on any trail. If you are running on a lake open it up, no problem but stay in control on the trails. If the trail is tight and twisty, slow down to 35 or 45 mph. I have seen way to many wrecks. Al
