I thought I had fixed this leak but it still is leaking fluid. Previously, I had pulled the cover to inspect the inside and the 5 bolts came off too easily so I assumed it was leaking from the O-ring seal. Put it back together and rode It around for about 10 miles and checked the level and it was down to the magnetic tip. So I reached under and felt the inside of the drive shaft bearing seal and there was a little play(kinda rocked back and forth a tiny bit).
should I change these bearings and seals and how difficult is it? I am a newbie at this but pulling the exhaust and cover was pretty simple for me

| sorry it took so long to get back you been out of town. were is the oil coming from. if it is coming out the back side you will have to do the bearings and seal. I would buy the shop manual if you can. if not go to babbits.com and look up the oem parts for your sled by model and year and it will give you and exploded view of the parts and that might help you out. i will check with you tomarrow sorry didnt get back to you sooner.

well, after I pulled the cover and cleaned it up real good, I put the cover back on and filled it with oil to where it was readin correctly on the magnetic dip. Then I let my son run it for an hour in the back yard and I re-checked the level and it was barely touching the dip stick. So I thought it just leaked right out. Icalled my mechanic and he said if I put the oil in cold it didn't fill all the nooks and cranny's so I re-filled it to the proper level and my son has ran it a couple of times for about an hour each time and it is holding at the right level.
However, I did feel on the inside where the seal is and there was a "bit" of oil residue on my finger tip so I think the seal is going. I am going to run it and check the oil level every time we stop and carry a pint with me and keep my fingers crossed!

| cool keep an eye on it. check out that website for parts it will give you a good idea about how things are put together. 9oz should be all it takes a little oil around that seal is ok. later bud talk to you soon. Give a weather report when you get a chance for your neck of the woods.
