I just discovered this site and am hoping to get some feedback on kayaking in the U.P. I'm having a hard time finding reliable sources of info for recreational kayaking in the Western U.P. I'd like to explore more, but I don't want any big surprises! I'm interestested in hearing about any experiences others have had on any of the inland lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, etc. Please, this is for recreational kayaking, not whitewater and extreme kayaking. Flatwater and easy rivers and such are what I'm looking for, with the occasional portage as necessary, and minor navigating around bounders and small rapids. I don't want risk my life, just enjoy the outdoors and get some nice photography, maybe even put together a sort of reference book for kayaking the western U.P., since there doesn't seem to be anything of the sort available.
Thanks for any input you may be willing to share!
