It has been almost 10 years since we owned sleds, we just bought a 94 Polaris Indy 440 and a 97 ski-doo Puma 340. Please advise which type of oil i should be using for these i am planning on running what is in it out and starting with what is best recommended.. Also any other tips or pointers on these sleds would be appreciated.

Congratulations on your "new" sleds--you picked a great winter to get back into snowmobiling.  As far as oil goes, neither of these sleds have rave valves, so any 2-stroke mineral oil will work.  If you're mechanically-inclined and want to maintain the sleds yourself you could order owners' manuals for each.  Otherwise, you should have the sleds "prepped" at a service facility to ensure the carbs and lines are clean, etc.--especially if you don't know the service history of the machines.  Dirty, clogged carburetors can cause major engine failure and that's a lot more expensive then a basic prep.  Good luck to you.
