Hello,
My fiance and I just moved to Lansing MI last July for me to go to school; we moved from southern Illinois where I have always fished and hunted. We are loving MI so far but I am definitely ready to start fishing. Most of my life I have mainly fished for largemouth bass, but once a year my family and I go up to Leech Lake, MN and catch northern pike and walleye. I have only caught walleye at night so I would like to try my luck during the day. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could let me know about the good fishing spots are around the Lansing/Central MI area for pike, walleye, and bass. We are also wanting to take a trip up farther north at the end of April/beginning of May to a a great fishing lake around Traverse City, so info on that would also be great. Thanks to everyone that replies.

Thanks, I am new to forum's in general but think it will be a good way to get some much needed fishing/hunting info. Have you fished any other good spots here in the lower P?

I have been trying to catch something in Burt lake near Indian River but i had very little luck.
Im not an extreme fisher-man :-) so I have to leave your questions to the experts.

Opening week or two the best walleye fishing I have found is on Burt lake, walleye alley. The drop off in front of the Sturgeon or indian Rivers. Jig with minnows early season and you will find nice ones. Best time at day break and the hour before sunset.
