I invented planing floats with directional control and call them BulletBobbers.

If you want to make your own here is template you can paste on a 4" x 2" x 1/4" thick piece of balsa or pine and cut out. It is a little tricky cutting the hole and you may need to add weight.


Here is what it looks like when the parts are put together.





They can be a handy tool when nothing else works.
