Just curious why this site's on-line map would not indicate a trail like this closing?
For anyone heading North from Baraga or trying to return South to Baraga - it obviously creates a very lengthy unknown detour.
With todays technology and knowledge this site should have, what can we do to make sure maps are updated?
To worsen the situation, there aren't even signs on trail #3 posting that trail #15 is closed east to to Chassel to say "find alternate route" - its just gone while all maps indicate it is there. So you are left to wonder at night if you missed the trail or need to double back.
Very disappointing between that and the lack of trail grooming anywhere from Baraga to Copper Harbor. What does the trail sticker money go towards?? The site indicates there are many clubs up that way too, yet not much trail maintenance - perhaps due to it being late in the season?

That would suck. One would think that the local DNR or grooming group would post that. I don't think that it's this sites fault. If no one informs them how are they to know? But late season or not I would call the DNR. Rip them a bit. Their the ones that are trying to take over everything. Good day & happy trails next time

| you wanna know something that might make u mad, about where the money goes, I heard some of snowmobile money goes for grading some trails for the orv's in the summer, but no orv money goes to snomobiling! also, as far as I know, there's only one person doing the gps mapping in michigan, so give him a break, he cant be everywhere in michigan all the time, Ive seen trails in the u.p change weekly. If you see a change, tell someone. I gps the new traverse ( Boardman) trail, cause It's wrong too, and I posted it here on trips, with a new map.

The ATV groomer fund is not snowmobile money. There is different grant money for that.
I think they should how ever work together and share some revenue. A trail groomed in the summer months is flatter and a lot easier to groom in the winter. Less broken drags and equipment.
P.S. I GPS'ed a lot this season. I hit a 45 mile detour in the U.P. no one said anything about to me. Good thing we carried extra gas! That trail you are referring to has been closed for 3 years and they still have not changed the maps.
I try to give you what I have but they do change every year so you have to be aware of this and ask questions locally when you come up.
I will try to keep up better next season as I will have more help from a new member of our team, Big John Studer.

Whoa there!!! NOT what I said. What happens now is that dual use trails such as the bluebear are graded (not the same as grooming) in the fall with orv money. Dedicated snowmobile trails such as the alba connecter, are sometimes graded in the fall with snowmobile money. To do this ,the grant sponser must put in (apply) for the moneyto grade, and if they get it , can do it.
Now what I was refering to in the other post you read, IF we can come to an agreement with the dnr, we will GROOM the orv blue bear this summer. As it stands , this would be with orv money. The fall GRADEING that formerly was orv money , may have to be snowmobile money because orv money groomed it all summer and in a perfect world,it shouldnt need regradeing. It would be less expensive for the sled program though,to groom it in the spring with sled money ,because grooming is a single pass,as opposed to multiple passes with a grader. Then, groom it 2 more times in the summer with orv money, and do the gradeing in the fall with orv money, since the purpose of the gradeing is to grade out the orv "damage". Does this make sense?

Whats on the table is 4 grooms total.June, july, august would be paid out of orv funds, november w/ snowmobile money. The november groom has been done for a few years now on a lot of sled trails, but its called"gradeing".
Absolutely, understand now, that answers up alot of questions I had. gj trbo.
