There is no good way to get from Cadillac to Manton without riding roads and ditch bangin'.  If you aren't familar with the area or pretty good with a map, I would suggest trailer in to the trailhead north of Manton. If you come up the 131 expressway take a left onto old 131 as the freeway ends and its about 500 feet on your right.  If you take old 131 you can't miss its on the left just before the expressway north of Manton.  If you head south east out of the parking lot, the trail is signed pretty well and will take you to Grayling.  Keep heading north and you'll hit Gaylord.

Another option is to stay in Manton.  there is only one small hotel, the Green Mill, but its is decent and is right on old 131 you can follow it south into town for gas and a great burger at the Shamrock, head north it will take you right to the trail head, about 3-4 miles of pretty smooth ditch riding.  Just follow all the tracks!
