I am thinking of taking a ride from St. Helen to Houghton Lake and around it, back to St. Helen this weekend. I was wondering if it is possible and if the conditions are good enough yet. If so, I was also wondering how long it would take roughly. Thanks :)

Did you end up going up? How was the riding?  I am heading to Houghton Lake this Friday.  A fun ride around Houghton Lake from St Helen is to take trail 6 west to trail 7 then head north up to the north bay of Houghton Lake and then shoot south  across the lake to Owen road and then head back to St Helen the only problem is that the lake has to be rideable.  That is a decent trip and there are plenty of places to stop especially once you get on Houghton Lake.  Trail 6 between St Helen and Houghton lake is a pretty cool trail too if it is groomed.

I know my usual group of riding buddies will be going up this year, probably about 10-15 of us.  For the most part it is just big party however they have added many things that you can bring the family to as well.  Typically the first weekend is for the wives and the family and the second is going out with the boys.

Yeah, my friends and I ended up riding out of St. Helen on Saturday, heading northeast to Luzerne and seasonal roads around back. The trails were in great shape and little traffic for early season riding, but by the end of the day there was abit of snirt in the corners. The 8 of us put 120 miles on, and I can't wait to go again.Trail 6 to Houghton Lake is a nice trail, but I haven't rode it too far west yet this year. Thanks for the advice. The trails should be in great shape for everyone.
